한국에서는 정기적으로 눈의염증을 치료받고, 눈의안압도 측정해서 높으면 안약을 처방받고는했는데,,

이곳 캐나다에서는  안과가 두개의 레벨로 나누어져서 한곳에서 해결이 되지않는다. 대부분의 검안의라는 이름으로 안경점과 같이 있는데, 그것을 Optometry 라고 생각하면되고, 의학적인 수술이나 치료약이 핖요한경우에는 Optometry 가 Ophthalmologist 에게 레퍼런스를 넣어준다고 그런다. 

Optometry is a healthcare profession concerned with the health of the eyes and related structures, as well asvision, visual systems, and vision information processing in humans. In the United States, Canada, Nigeria andGhana, optometrists are doctors of optometry^{[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]} and are held to the same legal standards as anyphysician.^[8

An ophthalmologist is a specialist in medical and surgical eye problems. Since ophthalmologists perform operations on eyes, they are both surgical and medical specialists.
