친구 사무엘의 명복을 빕니다.

 

오늘 내남자로부터 이친구의 사망소식을 들었다. 며칠전에 내남자가 이친구가 우울증과 앵거관리로 힘들어하고있고, 카운셀러를 만나서 다음주에는 직장으로 복귀할거라는 이야기를 전해들었는데...나는 이친구가 6주동안이나 정신적인 문제로 쉬고있는줄도 몰랐다. 내남자의 페북을 통해서 알게된 이친구의 부고소식에....사망원인은 자살일것이라고 추측할수있었다. 건강한 친구였는데, 갑작스럽게 사망소식을 듣게되어서, 무척 놀랐다....

왜 이런 선택을 했을까  ???  카나다데이 휴일을 보내는 주말이었는데..친구가 없어서 외로움을 많이 탄것일까 ?

 

내가 이친구를 두번정도 만났는데, 나는 이친구가 그런 어려움이 있다는것을 전혀 알지 못했다. 

보통사람들처럼 이야기잘하고, 성격도 온순한 느낌이라서 우울증이나 앵거문제로 고민하고 있는줄은 전혀 몰랐다.

이친구도 내남자처럼 커뮤니티에서 일하는친구라서 내남자가 아는사람들과 연결이 되는 친구였다.

 

이친구는 내가 잠시 만난친구였지만, 이야기를 해보면 좋은 인성을 가진 친구라는 생각을 하고있었다. 이 친구도 게이로 사는것에 고민을 많이했던것 같다. 카나디언중에 이런고민을 하면서 사는 친구가 있는 현실은 무지 안타깝다. 내남자에게 들은 이야기로는 퀘벡의 작은타운에서 자랐다고 한다. 페북에서 퍼온 저 사진처럼 늘 웃는모습으로 서글서글하던 눈매가 기억되는 친구....

커뮤니티에서 일하면서 43세의 나이의 청년이 게이로 사는것에 고민을 많이하고 있었을까 ??

좋은인성을 가진 친구인데, 삶의 희망과 꿈을 접게 만든것은 무엇이었을까 ?? 

너무나 안타까운 일이다. 누군가 자살을 햇다는건 너무 슬픈일이다. 더구나 주변사람들이 눈치를 채지 못햇다면 더 슬픈일이다.

누군가에게 자신의 마음을 터놓고 이야기 할수만 있었다면.. 이런 선택을 막을수 있지 않았을까...???

누군가 매일 이 친구의 안부를 물어볼수 있었다면, 이런선택을 막을수 있지 않았을까 ??? 

 

주변에서 알고있던 사람이 갑자기 목숨을 끊었다는것이 충격이었다. 더구나 이친구가 보여주는 인간성을 알고있는 사람들은 전혀생각하지도 못한 결과를 남기게 되어서 더 그렇다. 정말로 안타까운것은 좋은사람인데 마음의 상처를 극복하지 못하고 혼자 가슴속에 깊이 묻어두고 고민하다가 세상을 떠난것같아서 참 슬프다. 가슴속에 묻어두지말고 누군가에게 말하고 토해냈더라면 마음속깊은곳의 상처도 수면으로 이동하면서 나아질수있었을것인데.....생각할수록 너무나 안타까울뿐이다. 그렇게 혼자 힘들어하는줄 몰랐던 친구...그래서 더눈물나도록  안타깝다. 

 

하늘나라로 소풍을 떠난 친구,

행복하고 즐거운 여행을 하시기를 .....
